"While the Washington, D.C. Auto Show lives a little in the shadows of the big "global" shows, it plays an important role in focusing the attention of our industry on important social and policy issues driving our industry. We were happy to contribute to the discussion this week with our own ideas for cleaner, safer and more connected mobility. We also were honored to accept the Green SUV of the Year award from the Green Car Journal for our Honda HR-V crossover.

We have a clear and consistent vision for further advancing more efficient, low-emissions Honda mobility in the near and longer term. Today, Honda leads all full-line automakers in exceeding federal fleet fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions mandates. For the long term, we're advancing electromotive technology in all its forms, and at the DC Auto Show we showcased the Clarity Fuel Cell – which will come to market later this year – to be followed by a new 50-state Honda plug-in hybrid based off the same platform that will be introduced by 2018.

There also is a growing focus within the auto industry on technologies for more connected and automated vehicles. Our Honda Sensing and AcuraWatch safety and driver assistive systems on our vehicles today are at the forefront of this revolution, providing both a perceptual and technological bridge to the automated vehicles of the future.

Attending the DC Auto Show reinforced the importance of the value of a stronger dialogue between our industry and government, which has the challenging task of developing regulatory and legal structures to help enable our mobility future. We look forward to doing our part in fostering this dialogue, sharing our own ideas and helping building bridges to this future.

Thanks to all those who joined us in D.C. this week in advance of "Snow-megeddon" 2016 and please be safe out there!"
