"Having the new 10th-generation Civic honored with the 2016 North American Car of the Year award in Detroit this week is an incredibly fulfilling achievement for our entire Civic team here in North America and around the globe.

We embarked on this journey as one team with a shared commitment to deliver something truly new and innovative for our Honda customers.  The Civic itself is a new-from-the-ground-up design, with new powertrains, new approaches to body design and more; and for the first time, its global manufacturing launch is being led from North America at our plants in Canada and Indiana, where we've innovated new manufacturing technologies and processes that advance Civic quality, efficiency and performance.

Ultimately, this journey transcends the Civic itself – and is a culmination of more than 30 years of concerted effort to grow our North American associates and our local R&D and manufacturing capabilities as part of an integrated global team.

Now,  seeing this new Civic being embraced by our customers and industry experts alike, including North American Car of the Year jurors from across the continent, is all of the proof we need that this ongoing journey is well worth the effort.  On behalf of our entire team, thank you."
