Fuel efficiency and energy sustainability have become central themes in an ongoing national discussion over the future of personal transportation.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration will soon release proposed rules for fuel economy standards that will likely bring major changes to the U.S. automotive industry.

Two of Honda's recognized experts on fuel economy regulation and environmental technology development will provide perspectives on the new CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards, and discuss technology strategies for increasing fuel efficiency and advancing alternatives to gasoline.

The Webinar will address:

  • How will the new fuel economy rules work?
  • What do the new rules mean for the automotive industry and consumers?
  • Which technologies are likely to power the future?

Our Presenters:

John German, manager of environmental policy analyses for American Honda and a former EPA official, has more than 30 years of experience in the areas of fuel efficiency and fuel economy regulation. German is the first recipient of the Society of Automotive Engineers Barry MuNutt Award for Excellence in Automotive Policy Analysis. He has testified before Congress on fuel economy rules and alternative fuels.

Ben Knight, vice president of Honda R&D Americas, is one of the industry's leading experts on environmental issues and technologies and a past member of the U.S. Advisory Committee on Personal Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Reductions. He has overseen Honda R&D America's environmental programs for both gasoline and alternative fuel vehicles, including gas-electric hybrid vehicle and fuel cell vehicle programs.
