David has over 25 years of experience in the automotive / financial services industry and is presently responsible for all the national operations and sales financing business as well as the corporate operations, marketing, risk and product development groups supporting Honda Financial Services and Acura Financial Services. Previously as AVP Field Operations and Sales he oversaw all the credit, customer service, collections and dealer relationship and sales activities for Honda's captive finance company in the U.S. based in Torrance, California.
David began his career at Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, Michigan in the Management Development Program of the Corporate Finance Group. He was given various roles in the Corporate Treasurer's Office, the Automotive Sales and Marketing Group and Chrysler Financial Corporation.
David was then given the opportunity to help create a new captive finance company for BMW of North America headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey to support the U.S. market. He was the co-founder of BMW Financial Services, serving as Vice President over Marketing, Sales and Operations.
Later, David served as Chairman, President and CEO of BMW Bank of North America located in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the founder of this FDIC insured Industrial Loan Corporation and subsidiary of BMW Financial Services. At the same time, David acted as President of BMW Insurance Agency, Inc. and directed all insurance services activities for BMW Financial Services.
David also has led the business development activities at Toyota Financial Services based in Torrance, California with focus on obtaining regulatory approval and creating a FDIC-insured Nevada Thrift Company for Toyota. Based upon this new business platform, Toyota Financial Savings Bank, new products and services were developed to broaden the offerings for Toyota and Lexus dealers and drivers.
Just prior to joining Honda, David led DaimlerChrysler Financial Services' efforts to develop and create an Industrial Loan Bank in Salt Lake City, Utah. Seeking to obtain approval by the FDIC for Chrysler Financial Bank, his efforts were focused on building a strategic platform with banking powers and broader funding capabilities in order to complement and support the existing automotive finance business
David graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and later received his MBA with emphasis on Finance and Investments from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University.
David was born in Santa Monica, California and lived in Japan for five years. He enjoys spending time with his wife Marci Harding Paul and five children.
